I have loved camping since as long as I can remember. I grew up camping, and the first item my husband and I purchased with the money gifted to us for our wedding was a new tent. We have enjoyed camping with our three children their entire lives as well. And now that they are teenagers, it makes me happy to see the excitement on their faces when I say we are going camping. And, the smile on my face is even bigger. Here are the reasons why:
Carving swords out of sticks and hunting rabbits at the campground is more fun than Fortnite.
Hotdogs cooked over an open fire or on the grill somehow become a delicious and easy meal.
Playing Frisbee, ladder golf, Cornhole
and Spikeball
are a lot more fun than doing laundry all weekend at home.
S’mores with Hershey’s Bars. S’mores with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. S’mores with Ghirardelli Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Squares.
Sitting under the stars around a campfire brings out the best conversations.
Witnessing deer, turkey, prairie dogs, squirrels and birds in their natural environments is much easier than traipsing through a crowded zoo.
Cooking often becomes the man’s job when you are camping. Steak, ribs and kabobs on the grill are much tastier when cooked by my husband.
Limited Wi-Fi service in many camping areas means limited time on Snapchat and more time with people.
Camping is even more fun with groups of friends and family. It becomes a great time to bond and get to know each other better, and no one has to host!
Roughing it in a tent or a camper for a weekend makes me appreciate my home and helps me realize I don’t really want to get rid of everything and live in a tiny house.
