Family Fun Nebraska Christmas Events 2018Live Nativity at Timberlake Ranch Camp, Marquette
Dec. 14, 6-8 p.m.; Dec. 15, 4-8 p.m.; and Dec. 16, 2-6 p.m. Take a step back in time and experience the sights of sounds of historical Bethlehem with music, making an oil lamp with clay, writing with a quill and ink and spinning wool. Talk to shepherds and sample frankincense and myrrh followed by a live presentation of the story of Jesus’ birth. Enjoy coffee and cookies after the show. Freewill donations accepted.

SantaLand in Creighton
Through Dec. 31, 6-10 p.m. Life-sized shadowboxes depict Santa’s Next Stop, Winter Wonderland and a Nativity Scene. Santa’s workshop will be open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day from Dec. 1 through Dec. 23.

Christmas at Union Station
November 23 through January 6 at Omaha’s Durham Museum. Largest indoor Christmas tree, holiday concerts and Santa visits.

Winter Wonderland at Sycamore Farms, Waterloo
Nov. 30-Dec. 2 and Dec. 7-9. The creators of Junkstock will transform the farm into a Vintage Winter Wonderland.

Holidays in the Haymarket, Lincoln
Free horse and sleigh rides Fridays, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 from 6-9 p.m. with performances by the Lincoln boys choir, Capital City Cloggers, Church House Blues Bank and Chase Spirit of Dancers.

The Trolley of Lights Tour in Nebraska City
Weekends November 30-December 29. Includes a one-hour holiday light tour of historic Nebraska City with a reading of “The Polar Express.” Trolley rides begin at 6 p.m. The trolley departs the Lied Lodge lobby at 6 p.m. and returns approximately one hour later. Breakfast With Santa at the Kearney Area Children’s Museum
Saturday, December 1 from 8 a.m-11 a.m. at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds. Pancake breakfast, meet Santa, Rudolf and Frosty, make Christmas crafts, ride a trackless train and dance the morning away with music by Complete Music. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in their holiday pj’s and capture your memories with Santa by purchasing holiday photo packages by Katie Autry Photography.

Breakfast With Santa at the YMCA, Holdrege
Dec. 15, 9-11 a.m. at the Don Sjogren Community YMCA in Holdrege. Enjoy a breakfast with Santa featuring build-your-own fruit parfaits, top-your-own pancakes, sausage and a drink; adorn “gingerbread houses” with an array of crafts and candy supplies; listen to Christmas stories and swim with the elves. Register by Dec. 5. Fee is $10 per family for members and $15 per family for non-members.

Santa Goes To Space
Dec. 1, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum, Ashland. The event includes Star Wars characters, cookie decorating, make-and-take ornaments and holiday music.

Christmas Past & Present
Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7, 8 & 9 at the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer, Grand Island. The Stuhr Museum’s 1890s Railroad town will be decked out for the holidays. Special activities include making ornaments, paper chains or wooden cars. Father Christmas will attend. Visit the Fantasy of Trees in the Stuhr Building.

The Nutcracker Ballet
Dec. 8-9 at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha.

Christmas in the Woods
Dec. 1, 8 and 15 and 22 at Ponca State Park. Family fun includes making crafts, cookies and hot cider, sledding hill, snowman building contest and a lighted hayrack ride. For more information, call the park at 402-755-2284 or email ngpc.ponca@nebraska.gov.

Minden Light of the World Christmas Pageant
Sundays Nov. 24, Dec. 2 and Dec. 9, 7-7:30 p.m. “The Light of the World” is a Christmas Pageant is performed by local residents on the side of the courthouse square every year. The narration is broadcast across the downtown, while the actors pantomime the Christmas story. Every performance is free and culminates in the illumination of more than 12,000 bulbs that adorn the courthouse and the square. Bring your own chairs or sit on the sidewalk.

Christmas at the Cody’s in North Platte
December 7-8, 14-15 and 21 & 22, 5:30–8 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and younger are admitted free. The Cody Mansion will be decorated in its holiday splendor. Enjoy cider, cookies, roasted chestnuts and horse-drawn carriage rides while being serenaded by Christmas carolers. While in North Platte, also be sure to drive through the famous Candy Cane Lane, just off of Walker Road near Buffalo Bill Avenue to see an amazing Christmas light display.  

The Nutcracker Ballet
Performed by the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company, Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the Lied Center in Lincoln.
